Rafael - Piano
Rafael Carrasquillo is a prolific piano player, electronic musician, educator and piano technician operating in the New York City area. Born to Spanish parents in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Rafael holds a B.A. in Music Performance from the Puerto Rico State University, as well as a Teacher of Music Certificate from the New Jersey Dept. of Education. For ten years Rafael worked as a General and Choral Music in the New York Public Schools, as well as in the Jersey City and Totowa Public Schools. As a performer, Rafael's career spans 30 years of playing, recording and touring in a wide variety of musical styles and situations in the United States, Europe and Latin America. Recent events include a tour of the Caribbean with his "Piano, Theremin & Drums" show, electronic music lectures at NYU and UPR, plus performances and studies at the Theremin Academy in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Jeff - Bass and Guitar
Jeff Koch was born and raised in New York City and has been teaching guitar and bass lessons to students of all ages for the past 8 years. He has performed all over the world on some of the most prestigious stages including the blue note (NYC), the Bimhuis (Amsterdam, NL), and IIMB Coke Studios (Bangalore, India) to name a few. Jeff holds a masters degrees from Manhattan School of Music in Jazz Performance, and a Masters in Music Education from Columbia University's Teacher's College.
Lindsay - Voice
Lindsay has been singing before she could speak and thrives on making music in any way possible. She has been teaching voice and piano for over 10 years to students of all ages and believes in a student-centric approach to achieve one's highest potential. Lindsay holds a Masters in Music and Music Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. She encourages her students with a holistic pedagogical approach, combining musical interpretation, theory, and song writing. Classically trained, Lindsay is versed in opera, jazz, pop, folk and more. In her other musical endeavors, Lindsay has directed handfuls of choirs, sung in dozens of groups, and is currently singing, playing piano and writing original tunes in a three piece band named the Corduroy Suit.
Iryna - Violin
Iryna Kit born in Lviv, Ukraine, began to study violin and piano at the age of 6 when she was discovered to have perfect pitch and soon afterward became enrolled at the Lviv Special Music School. In 2005 Iryna’s family immigrated to New York, where she enrolled in the Special Music School for gifted children at the Kaufman Center, studying on a full scholarship with Mark Lakirovich. She was a member of the Young Artist Program at Kaufman Center along with attending LaGuardia High School as an Instrumental Major. In 2005 she became a Regina Rubinof Award winner at the Associated Music Teachers' League Violin Competition. In 2006 she appeared with the Kaufman Center Orchestra as a winner of the 11th Annual Kaufman Center Concerto Competition. She was the concertmistress of her school orchestra as well as a winner of the 2009 concerto competition, where as a winner she performed Khachaturian violin concerto with orchestra in March 2010. A founding member of the EVI PianoTrio, she has premiered works by contemporary composers and standard repertoire. She graduated with highest honors and has the honor to hold a Hadar Foundation scholarship. Since 2008 she worked as a privat violin teacher and coach for numerous students from the special music school, recommended by their teachers. During the summers of 2008 and 2010, she participated as an intern and assistant teacher at the annual Kaufman summer festival. Recently she started to work as a violin teacher in a music studio on the Upper East side. Currently Iryna is studying with Stephany Chase and is a college junior attending NYU on a almost full scholarship as a double major in violin performance and chemistry, appearing as a soloist, participating in 2 chamber groups and performing with the school orchestra in such venues as Weill Recital Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, Ann Goodman Recital Hall, Black Box Theatre, Steinway Hall, and others.
